Shopahollic for a Day

Sixteen year old Lauren from Cork isn’t like most teenagers as she suffers from a terrible illness – Colitis.  It all started when Lauren was having trouble keeping her food down.  After being admitted to hospital in Oct 2005, this was the start of constant treatments and hospital admissions for Lauren.  Since then Lauren was diagnosed with a rare and serious bowel and stomach disorder and has underwent a huge number of very invasive operations.

Lauren’s one dream was to feel special for a weekend and go on a shopping spree.

So, Lauren's dream began when her and her mum arrived to the Clarion Hotel, Limerick to begin the dream of a lifetime.  The following morning first it was off to Hugh Campbell’sStudio Marbles to have their hair and nails done.  Then a stretch limo collected the ladies and escorted by ten Harley Davidson riders they were brought to Brown Thomas.  First mum and daughter had make over at the Benefit and Shiseido beauty counters.  Then it was off to the designer labels upstairs and start shopping.  Laden down with lots of baggage full of Coast and Juicy Couture wear Lauren and her mum then stopped for a bit of lunch.  Lauren said goodbye to all the staff of Brown Thomas and left the store full with gifts and bags.  Next stop Keane’s Jewellers were mum and daughter were both presented with a watch and necklace.  After this, more shopping before being collected at 630pm to return to the Clarion Hotel.  After a bit of relaxing both ladies had a lovely candlelight dinner in the hotel, a perfect ending to a perfect weekend.  The following morning Lauren and her mum headed home to Cork.
