Dreamland Village

All children are entitled to a happy active childhood but not all children are so lucky.  Childhood for some can be short lived, full of disappointment, pain, loneliness and fear.

Unless you have a child or know of a child who is fighting a terrible illness or disability deprived of even the simplest of pleasures like “play” then it’s impossible to fully appreciate how difficult life can be for these children in Ireland.

Visit any playground or indoor play area in Ireland and see the very basic (if any) facilities provided for disabled children to play in safety and to the full extent of their ability.  In Ireland accessible play facilities for sick and disabled children are almost non-existent.

All children learn to live life through play and according to all the experts in this field, “play” is essential to the all round development of children, especially children with a disability.

Any child who has been denied or deprived the right to play has been deprived of their childhood and this is wrong and discriminatory.  It is up to all of us to see that the rights of disabled children in Ireland to “play” is respected.

Share a Dream Foundation are going to do something about it. We want to give hundreds of special children all over the Mid West and Ireland the real opportunity to play and give them back their childhood.

A magical place where just for a short time they will forget about their painful treatment hospitalisation loneliness disappointments and fears and trade them in for fun, laughter, friendship, love ands sacks full of happy memories.

This FUN PARK for these children will be called DREAMLAND and we are asking you to help us build it and make this unique and special DREAM VILLAGE in the Mid West become a reality.

Dreamland will be unique where children regardless of their illness or disability will not feel different and in fact will be made to feel very very special.

Dreamland will be designed to reflect a child’s idea of a Magical place, the kind they only find in books or their wonderful imagination.

The core of Dreamland will be a colourful WOW factor that creates the magic when you first arrive.

This magical Park landscaped with disabled children in mind will include an adventure park, Kiddies Park, Treasure Island, Sensory garden, Pets Corner, Mini aquarium, Indoor soft play area, interactive area and children’s museum and lots lots more.

Dreamland will also include 6 holiday homes for terminally ill and seriously disabled children to come and spend some quality time together as a family.

Dreamland will be a place full of fun, laughter happiness where no child will feel different and they will have the opportunity of playing like other kids and having fun.  It is their right.

Dreamland Village will cost in the region of €3M to €5M and while Share a Dream is raising funds to make this dream a reality we need your help. If you would like to make a special donation to help us you can either make a credit card donation or print out the standing order form and make a regular donation through your bank. Rest assured, no matter how large or small your donation, it will make a difference to so many children and their families – right here in Ireland.
